News: Ungaretti & Harris Elects Two Attorneys to Partnership

Chicago, December 14, 2010 – Ungaretti & Harris LLP announced today that two attorneys have been elected to partnership. Valerie Breslin Montague (32) is a partner in the Healthcare Department and Daniel P. Strzalka (32) is a partner in the Finance and Restructuring Department.

Ms. Montague concentrates her practice on all aspects of health law, including federal and state requirements governing tax-exempt organizations, health information technology issues, compliance with HIPAA and other privacy requirements, Certificate of Need issues, federal and state self-referral and fraud and abuse compliance. She earned her J.D. in 2003 from Georgetown University Law Center and her Honors B.A. cum laude in 2000 from Marquette University.

Mr. Strzalka’s practice focuses on secured lending, mergers and acquisitions and corporate law. He regularly represents lenders in various types of financing arrangements and counsels borrowers in connection with credit facilities utilized for general business needs as well as acquisitions. He received his J.D. summa cum laude in 2003 from DePaul University College of Law and his B.A. in 2000 from the University of Iowa.

New Lateral Partner
Ungaretti & Harris continues to strengthen its Finance and Restructuring Group with the addition of lateral partner Robert A. Drobnak (35). Robert’s practice focuses on representing banks and other financial institutions in a variety of lending and other financial transactions. He received his J.D. in 2000 from University of Pennsylvania Law School and his B.A. in 1997 from Bradley University. Before joining Ungaretti & Harris, he was employed at Latham & Watkins in Chicago.

New Associates
Ungaretti & Harris also welcomes two associates to the firm. Shawn K. Moon (32) has joined as an associate in the Healthcare Department. Mr. Moon earned his J.D. in 2009 from the University of Illinois College of Law, his M.P.A. from New York University Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service in 2003 and his B.S. in 2000 from the University of Michigan. Before joining Ungaretti & Harris, Shawn was a financial analyst at Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian.

Lucy M. Kalnes (28) has joined as an associate in the Business Group. Ms. Kalnes earned her J.D. magna cum laude in 2007 from the University of Illinois College of Law and her B.A. in 2003 from the University of Wisconsin. Prior to joining Ungaretti & Harris, Lucy was an associate at Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP in New York and most recently at Vedder Price P.C. in Chicago.
