News: Ungaretti & Harris Continues to Promote Diversity by Supporting Chicago Internship Program

08/05/10

Chicago, August 5, 2010– Ungaretti & Harris is proud to support The Chicago Summer Business Institute by providing a paid summer internship as part of its long-term effort to help increase the number of diverse students who enter law school in hopes of creating a more diverse legal community. The Chicago Summer Business Institute offers this experience to candidates with above-average grades from Chicago’s public, parochial and private high schools.

“These opportunities expose young students from low-income households to the various careers available in the legal field,” says Ungaretti & Harris Litigation Partner and Diversity Committee Co-Chair Samera S. Ludwig. “It is our hope that this experience encourages them to continue with their education and pursue professions in the law.”

Ungaretti & Harris supports this initiative as part of its firm-wide Commitment to Diversity. Earlier this year, the firm also participated in a corporate work-study program with Christ the King Jesuit College Preparatory School, a Cristo Rey Network® school. Each week, a team of young women and men came from the school in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood to work in a job-share internship capacity. The program was featured in a Chicago Daily Law Bulletin article in April.
