Publications: The Office of Inspector General Publishes New Compliance Publication for Physicians

The Office of Inspector General’s new compliance publication, drafted for physicians, is now available online for free: A Roadmap for New Physicians: Avoiding Medicare and Medicaid Fraud and Abuse. It addresses the more significant Federal laws implicated in a physician’s practice, discussing the more common red flags in relationships with payers, other physicians/providers (e.g., hospitals, nursing homes) and vendors. It also provides information on compliance programs, resources for help in interpreting rules and remaining compliant, directions for obtaining help and, of course, guidance on reporting problems or suspected problems. A Roadmap for New Physicians is a helpful resource not only to physicians but also for all other providers working with physicians.
