Timothy E. Horton

Tim concentrates his practice in complex litigation matters in the areas of securities and general commercial litigation.

His recent experience includes:

• Obtaining summary judgment on behalf of a national laboratory testing company in a case asserting claims for defamation and negligence related to its testing and results.
• Obtaining dismissal of a tortuous interference claim on behalf of a national laboratory testing company related to a real estate dispute with its largest competition.
• Representing an Illinois insurance company in contesting Department of Insurance protective orders including cease and desist protective orders and protective orders seeking extraordinary Department of Insurance supervision.
• Representing an Illinois insurance company in defending litigation proceedings at both the regulatory and Circuit Court levels.
• Counseling an Illinois insurance company in connection with the redemption of one its 50% shareholders.
• Obtaining the dismissal of multi-million dollar RICO and fraud cases against a Fortune 100 company arising from an alleged conspiracy to defraud based on false research.
• Representing large, full-service brokerage firms in litigating injunctive proceedings and arbitration matters, including misappropriation of trade secrets, raiding, and covenants not to compete.
• Representing large, full-service brokerage firms in the defense of investors' claims of unsuitability, fraud, and misrepresentation in the sale of securities.
• Defending a Fortune 20 company against claims of breach of contract, promissory estoppel, false advertising and patent infringement.
• Representing a large Chicago-area medical device manufacturer as part of a national defense team for products liability suits against the company.

Tim serves as the Co-Chair of the firm’s Summer Associate Hiring Committee.
