Richard H. Levy

Richard Levy is a partner in the Real Estate Department, where he focuses his practices in the areas of real estate and construction law, representing developers, builders, general contractors and financial institutions on matters such as acquisitions and dispositions, financing, workouts, distressed assets, land use, mechanic’s liens and architectural and construction contracts.

Richard’s recent projects include:

  • Representing a landowner/co-developer in a joint venture for an 8,000 unit condominium project in the South Loop.
  • Representing a landowner/co-developer in a joint venture for development of 90,000 square foot shopping center in California.
  • Representing a landowner/co-developer in a joint venture for development of 300 senior housing units in California.
  • Representing an owner in dispute with general contractor regarding $134,000,000 senior housing facility in Chicago, Illinois.
  • Representing a condominium developer in the South Loop regarding construction defect issues and negotiating the GMP Contract.
  • Representing a publicly held company in development of one million plus square foot shopping center in Bolingbrook, Illinois, including negotiation of all construction contracts.
  • Representing an owner/developer in joint venture regarding construction of townhouse project on the near West side of Chicago, Illinois.

Richard served as Vice President and General Counsel of Lexington Homes and views real estate and construction issues through the lens of both an external and internal counsel.

A frequent lecturer on real estate and construction matters, specifically pertaining to mechanic’s liens, he has spoken before groups as diverse as the Chicago Bar Association, the Homebuilders Association of Greater Chicago and the Association of Attorneys and Executives in Corporate Real Estate.
