News: Ruth Pivar Joins Ungaretti & Harris As Chair of Trusts and Estates Practice

Chicago, July 1, 2008 – Ungaretti & Harris LLP announced today that Ruth A. Pivar has joined the firm as a partner and chair of the Trusts and Estates practice.

Previously a partner with DLA Piper, she focuses her practice on sophisticated estate planning for entrepreneurial and family business clients, working with high net worth clients relative to all forms of wealth preservation and planning. She advises clients in the areas of transfer tax, charitable giving, dependent parent/child planning, insurance and retirement planning.

Ms. Pivar has extensive experience in representing taxpayers in estate, gift and income tax controversies before the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Tax Court, the Court of Claims and the U.S. District Court. She also has authored columns on business and estate planning for Franchising World magazine.

Ms. Pivar received her J.D. cum laude from Marquette University Law School in 1991 and her B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1986.
