Ruth A. Pivar

Ruth A. Pivar is a partner and practice area chair in the Trusts and Estates Department at Ungaretti & Harris LLP. She concentrates her practice in the area of sophisticated estate planning for entrepreneurial and family business clients. She works with high net worth clients relative to all forms of wealth preservation and planning. She advises clients in the areas of transfer tax, charitable giving, dependent parent/child planning, insurance and retirement planning. She also has extensive experience in representing taxpayers in estate, gift and income tax controversies before the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Tax Court, the Court of Claims and the U.S. District Court. She has authored columns on business and estate planning for Franchising World magazine. Ms. Pivar is also active in the Chicago community. She is a member of the Spotlight Advisory Council of the Goodman Theatre.
