President's Letter: Many Thanks for a Successful Two Years
The Chicago Connection: Association For Corporate Growth Newsletter
01/01/03
The officers, the committee chairs, and the members of the board of directors are nearing the completion of the first two-year terms in the history of the Chicago Chapter. The extended length of time gave the leaders of the organization the time to assess and improve the structure of the Chapter and perform long range planning and programming.
Needless to say, a two-year period of service was an extraordinary commitment. The dramatic growth and success of the Chapter during 2001 and 2002 was a result of tremendous dedication and energy.
Through their outstanding efforts, membership has doubled, the Chapter's finances have been stabilized, an outstanding sponsorship program has been established, the number and quality of the programs have increased, and the Private Equity Fund and Corporate Development Professionals Group has been established. These accomplishments occurred during an extremely volatile period in the world and the economy.
The people who led the Chapter during this period were: officers - Carol A. Morse, Gerald Laurain, and Stephen R. Ferrara; committee chairs - Richard J. Cobb, Jr., Raymond T. Daly, Michael L. Sklar, Joseph P. Davisson, Craig A. Miller, Steven M. Dresner, William C. Golz, Jr. and Allan D. Allweiss; directors at large - Walter W. Halatek, Thomas E. Jones, Dirk B. Landis, Thomas Parro, Al B. Reid, Andrew W. Rice, and James K. Vargo; and the President's Advisory Council - William J. Fisher, James J. Blaha, Michael J. Feldman, Christopher A. Gebelein, Paul E. Krantz, and George Stevenson. The administrator of the Chapter, Terry Cobb, did an outstanding job during my administration.
Many of these individuals will continue to provide leadership during the next two years. Their enthusiasm and experience will continue the momentum that has been established. I will continue to serve the organization as chairman of the President's Advisory Council.
At the Annual Awards Dinner on January 16, 2003, during which Larry Levy and Levy Restaurants will be honored, the members who served the Chapter over the past two years will be recognized. The officers, chairs, and directors for 2003 and 2004 will be introduced.
It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as the President and lead the Chapter during this period of unprecedented growth.
