Ungaretti & Harris Ramps Up Corporate Restructuring Practice With Lateral Hire
12/10/09
Chicago, December 10, 2009 – Ungaretti & Harris LLP announced that George R. Mesires has joined the firm as a Partner in the Corporate, Securities and Finance Department. He comes to Ungaretti & Harris from Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum and Nagelberg LLP, where he was a partner.
Mr. Mesires will have a leading role in ramping up the firm’s corporate restructuring practice. In conjunction with the bankruptcy practice, Mr. Mesires will primarily work with clients on matters and transactions that involve bankruptcy or insolvency issues, in- and out-of-court restructurings, workouts, and buying and selling distressed assets. “A bad economy creates excellent opportunities that require the skills of an experienced restructuring advisor,” says Gary I. Levenstein, Chair of Ungaretti’s Corporate, Securities and Finance Department. “George brings an unusual level of understanding to distressed transactions because of his experience as inside counsel at a company that became insolvent and his role as outside counsel. His educational and business background gives George an excellent understanding of the financial issues.”
Mr. Mesires is an Associate Editor of the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal and writes frequently on bankruptcy topics. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association. Mr. Mesires received a joint degree (J.D./M.B.A.) from Syracuse University in 1995 and a B.A. from Colgate University in 1991.
