Kelly M. Keefe
Kelly is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department. She concentrates her practice in general commercial litigation.
Some of her recent experience includes:
- Defeating an employer’s request for a preliminary injunction to enforce a former executive’s noncompetition agreement.
- Defending a Fortune 500 company in claims of long term occupational exposure to asbestos and asbestos-containing products.
- Representing healthcare manufacturer in litigation involving claims for false advertising under the Lanham Act and various consumer protection and deceptive trade practices acts.
- Assisting in representing not-for-profit organization in litigation against the Illinois Department of Revenue for denial of property tax exemption for charitable and/or religious use.
- Representing various healthcare providers in litigation against the State of Illinois for the payment of services provided to public aid recipients.
- Assisting in defending an international corporation in litigation involving product liability and breach of contract claims.
- Assisting in representing subcontractor in litigation concerning the construction of a professional sports stadium.
- Assisting in the counseling of property owners regarding lender subrogation rights and the perfection and enforcement of Mechanics liens in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
- Representing various clients in matters before the Illinois Gaming Board and assisting individuals, tribes, and companies in submitting applications for gaming licenses under the Illinois Riverboat Gambling Act and the Illinois Video Gaming Act.
- Drafting litigation documents, including motions to dismiss, memoranda of law, trial preparation materials, and engaging in substantial research tasks.
Kelly is also a member of the firm’s Summer Associate Committee.
