James J. Jagoda

Jim has a wide range of experience in all phases of intellectual property practice, and extensive litigation experience in the Federal Courts nationwide at both the trial and appellate levels. He has managed clients’ intellectual property assets, and drafted and prosecuted domestic and foreign patent, trademark, and copyright applications. Jim has also counseled clients with respect to patent and trademark clearance opinions, patentability, and patent, trademark, and copyright infringement.

Jim's extensive litigation experience includes all aspects of litigation from complaint through appeal. He has taken and defended depositions, and drafted numerous motions and briefs, including U.S. Supreme Court Certiorari petitions. Jim has prepared several large cases for trial, including fact and expert witness preparation, exhibit preparation, deposition designations, and jury instructions. Jim has argued many motions before the courts, and has argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

As part of his community service, Jim is a Lieutenant with the Western Springs Fire Department. He is currently Vice President of the MABAS Division 10 Fire Investigation Team, which assists member Departments in performing fire investigations.
