U&H Employees Raise $12,000 for Tsunami Relief Efforts
01/07/05
The fundraising efforts of Ungaretti & Harris employees were featured in the January 7, 2005 edition of The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. The article discusses Chicago law firms' donations to provide aid to survivors of the tsunami in Indonesia.
"At Ungaretti & Harris, Michael J. Philippi, who chairs Ungaretti’s litigation practice, said Friday morning, 'If I was going to [donate], I thought I might as well drag somebody else into it with me. I knew they would step up.'
"'Philippi’s hunch that his colleagues would find a way to be both generous and competitive proved right. Two hours later, Ungaretti employees had far exceeded his challenge, raising $8,000. By early Friday afternoon, the total was $12,000, with 70 of the firm’s 225 employees contributing.
"'It’s hard to imagine the level of devastation' wrought by the massive earthquake and ocean wave it caused, Philippi said. 'Everyone wants to respond. We’re a generous firm.'"
