On March 18, 2010, the Illinois Supreme Court handed down its long-awaited opinion in Provena Covenant Medical Center v. Department of Revenue, upholding the Department of Revenue’s denial of a property tax exemption for Provena Covenant Medical Center. The decision raises questions concerning the property tax exemption of every not for profit hospital and nursing home in the state of Illinois.

The Healthcare and Government Practice Groups at Ungaretti and Harris LLP are pleased to present our fourth annual healthcare conference addressing the questions Provena raises for other not for profit hospitals and healthcare facilities, including:

  • Are the property tax exemptions of all Illinois hospitals now at risk?
  • What is adequate charitable use?
  • How should you respond to an attempted revocation of your property tax exemption?
  • What are the implications of Health Care Reform on the tax exemption issue?
  • Can there be a legislative solution?
  • What happens now?

Our fourth annual conference will provide timely information from a diverse and highly regarded group of speakers, who will share their insights and viewpoints on these important developments.
