President's Letter: Chapter Demonstrates Leadership During Changing Times
The Chicago Connection: Association for Corporate Growth Newsletter
12/01/01
As we look back on one of the most tumultuous years in our nation's history, we should recognize and appreciate the role that the Chicago Chapter of ACG has played in these rapidly changing times.
Financial markets declined sharply during 2001, the national economy slipped steadily into recession, and the terrorist attacks on September 11 had a dramatic effect on each of us. There has been significant impact on all sectors of the business community.
During this tumultuous year, the Chicago Chapter succeeded in providing an excellent forum for understanding and communicating about the business world in these stressful times. Our members were presented with informative and meaningful programs including outstanding speakers at the monthly luncheons, a dynamic and timely full-day conference in October entitled “Changes, Choices, Challenges: Managing Your Business in an Uncertain Economy,” thought-provoking educational seminars as part of our professional development program, the best chapter newsletter in the country, and excellent networking opportunities at the local, regional, and national levels.
The success of our programs has resulted in a significant increase in membership during the year. The Chicago Chapter is now the second-largest chapter in the world. We have had excellent attendance at our meetings and outstanding support from our annual sponsors and sponsors of various programs.
Our appreciation is warmly extended to our volunteer members who worked hard during the year to produce these excellent results.
As the current Chapter leadership team reaches the halfway point in our terms of office, your ongoing involvement and participation will continue to define our success. I urge each of you to continue to be active in all events and keep our organization successful and vibrant.
With your help and involvement, the Chicago Chapter will continue to be a leader in the Chicago business community.
