Regina Calabro is a partner in the Labor and Employment and Litigation Departments. She is an experienced litigator and business counselor and has represented employers before federal and state courts, numerous administrative agencies and arbitration panels. Gina is experienced in class action and multi-party litigation.  Before entering private practice, Gina served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney Office. 

Gina concentrates her practice on:

  • Discrimination and harassment matters
  • Wage and hour class actions
  • Complex litigation and jury trials
  • Unfair competition and trade secrets law
  • Organized labor relations and disputes

In addition, Gina regularly counsels clients on employment issues related to the evaluation and discipline of employees, discrimination and harassment complaints, employee policies and handbooks, non-competition, non-solicitation and confidentiality agreements, and wage and hour issues. She also represents clients in commercial transactions and civil litigation, including breach of fiduciary duty and defamation cases, bankruptcy, and contract disputes. 

Gina’s experience includes having:

  • Obtained summary judgment for hospital client in case involving race and gender discrimination claims.
  • Extensively represented employers in the area of non-competition litigation and protection of employer trade secrets and proprietary information.
  • Obtained summary judgment on numerous cases involving claims under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Family Medical Leave Act.
  • Successfully represented multiple clients in wage and hour class action litigation.
  • Successfully defended plaintiffs’ motion for class certification in a race and national origin discrimination and harassment case.
  • Obtained the dismissal of a breach of contract action filed by a former employee against a national aerospace company.
  • Successfully defended a large municipality in a federal jury trial before Judge James B. Zagel wherein the plaintiff alleged violations of his First Amendment rights.
  • Represented public and private employers in traditional labor matters including collective bargaining negotiations, interest arbitrations, arbitrations, and unionization attempts.
  • Defended and filed numerous unfair labor practices (ULP) charges before the Illinois Labor Relations Board.
  • Represented employers before federal and state appellate courts involving employment and traditional labor law matter.
  • Routinely handled representation and unit clarification petitions.
