News: Alpana Singh, Wine Tasting a Hit at Ungaretti & Harris Women’s Event

Chicago, November 19, 2007 – The women attorneys of Ungaretti & Harris welcomed female clients to Brasserie Jo for a wine tasting and professional networking event Wednesday, November 7. Master Sommelier Alpana Singh, host of the PBS restaurant review program Check, Please! was the evening’s featured speaker.

As one of only 13 female Master Sommeliers in North America, Ms. Singh’s speech struck a chord with attendees, many of whom also succeed in male-dominated industries. She also briefed the audience on each of the six French wines she selected for the evening.

“The event was a success. It provided women attorneys and other business professionals the opportunity to socialize and network,” said Samera S. Ludwig, Litigation Partner and co-chair of the event. Ms. Ludwig also serves as co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

“Not only was it fun, but it was a great learning experience and a great opportunity to meet my female peers,” said Nancy Schultz, Vice President of Human Resources for Bekins Van Lines. She found Ms. Singh’s observations on men and women and their interest in wine particularly interesting.

Over 120 guests were treated to hors d'oeuvres and desserts, in addition to Ms. Singh’s presentation. The wine tasting was one of several events in recent years organized by Ungaretti & Harris’ Women Partners Marketing Group to provide a forum for networking, socializing, and professional development for women.
