Floyd D. Perkins

Healthcare Biography

Floyd concentrates his practice on counseling businesses and charities on financial and compliance matters, litigating business and financial disputes, and representing clients in contested probate, chancery matters and in state tax and tax exemption matters. Floyd also represents clients in government investigations, including the Attorney General’s current investigation of the hospital industry relative to charity care and patient billing.

Prior to joining Ungaretti & Harris, Floyd was Bureau Chief of the Illinois Attorney General’s Charitable Trusts Division for 14 years, where he was responsible for many of the office complex financial and business litigation matters concentrating in chancery and probate practice. He has an extensive background in matters concerning enforcement of fiduciary duty and corporate governance. He has also represented the Attorney General in matters concerning the sale of over a dozen hospitals and the related contracts and provisions accompanying those sales.

As the supervising attorney in the Charitable Trust Bureau he was responsible for all litigation related to estates, trusts, or foundations initiated or defended by the Attorney General. He supervised several teams of auditors, accountants and lawyers in hundreds of financial investigations and litigated matters. His experience there included hundreds of trials of complex accounting issues, involving multi-million dollar matters and transactions.
